Professional development courses (Spring 2010)
I am currently undertaking two professional development courses, I am doing a British Wheel of Yoga integration course. This will not affect on my style of teaching but it means I have access to a wealth of information and support to enhance my classes.
I am also studying for a Masters in Mindfulness. Mindfulness means:
"Paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgementally" Jon Kabat-Zinn.
It is a type of meditation but that does not mean necessarily sitting in the lotus position to perform it - this method teaches skills that will be integrated through the students entire life. This approach is secular, and is being used in clinical settings to help with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and many other issues. It can also be relevant to anyone else who has a mind and a body!! I have found it to be truly transformational. If you would like to know more about Mindfulness please do contact me.
Hello! (Autumn 2009)
Summer seems to still be in full swing but thoughts are turning towards the new term and some yoga! The term dates are at the end of this e-mail. If you wish to attend please e-mail me back a quick one liner telling me which class. If you change your mind please could you let me know. Thanks.
As term is starting rather late I will be teaching a DROP IN (no need to book) class on
MONDAY SEPTEMBER 7th - 6.15pm.
I am starting some continued professional development this term. I am doing a British Wheel of Yoga Integration Course and I start the Masters in Mindfulness. This means that I will be away for three Friday classes during the term, but I will be teaching two extra Friday classes on Sept 12th and Oct 30th, so you will have a 10 week term rather than 11 for Monday and Tuesday classes. If enough members of the Friday class wish me to find a cover teacher for the three I am away I am sure this will be possible.
If you miss a class you are welcome to make it up on an alternative class during the term.
TERM DATES:
First day of term: Friday 12th Sept
Half term: Monday 19th - Thursday 29th Oct
Final class: Friday 11th Dec
Additional Monday evening classes:
Sept 7th - drop in
Oct 26th - book in advance
Dec 14th - book in advance
Dec 21st - book in advance
Fees:
Monday, Tuesday £77 for the term or £35 for first half of term
Friday £70 or £35
Monday classes £7 in advance please
Concessions £5 per class.
I am so looking forward to seeing you all again.
Wishing you all good things,
Susanna x

Sending all good wishes for a marvellous '09. (January 2009)
I hope that all you plan and desire comes your way.
I am very excited about this year as I am going to embark on some very exciting professional development; I am attending a Mindfulness course for 8 weeks in January and then from October I intend to start a Mindfulness Masters Degree at Bangor University. It is a part time course over five years and will equipment me to integrate all know and love about yoga and meditation into a format which has been being used in the US to help people suffering from cancer, depression and other serious illnesses. I am starting a class along these lines as a pilot on Friday mornings at 11am - if you, or anyone you know is interested please drop me an email, Happy New Year to you and yours,
Susanna x
Term starts on Monday January 12th , half term is w/c 16th February and term finishes on March 20th.
Autumn approaches! (August 2008)
As Autumn approaches thoughts turn to starting back to a routine.
Classes start on Monday September 8th, with the exception of the Pregnancy class which starts on Tuesday September 2nd. For class times please click onto the yoga page. See you there!
News (updated January 2007)
After much thought I have decided to give up my registration with the Iyengar organisation. Over the last year I have come to realise that I no longer agree with some of the teaching methods and the rules of the organisation. That is not to say that I do not still highly value the Iyengar method of practicing yoga. My style of teaching will inevitably still be very dependent on all I have learnt as an Iyengar teacher, but I have now started attending classes with a very experienced teacher called Peter Blackaby. I am VERY excited about my way ahead and thoroughly look forward to sharing what I learn with you all. For more information on Peter please visit his website peteblackaby.co.uk. Peter is part of the association of independent yoga practitioners (please visit aiyp.co.uk).
News (updated December 2006)
Thanks to everyone who attended the Ride-for-Rachel charity class – we managed to raise £128.
It's Christmas holidays time, so no classes, but try not to let your practice come to a grinding halt; you can keep in touch with your yoga by doing just two poses a day. Start with some easy ones – Vrksasana (tree pose) and Adho muka Svanasana (dog pose) and see what else you feel inspired to try!
