Yoga

Susanna teaches yoga at a wonderful purpose-built studio on the north Norfolk coast

Day time and evening classes for all levels of experience.

Susanna qualified as an Iyengar teacher and taught this method for several years.
However, in the course of her own practice, especially when pregnant and then in the post natal months, learnt how important it is not to try to force the body into a fixed and rigid shape. She tries to approach every posture with great respect for each student's body; how it responds to, yields or resists the pose. Susanna still teaches with fine attention to detail but encourages students to respect their body, nature and well being moment to moment.

About Yoga ...

Yoga works with careful attention to the alignment of the body. Over time yoga increases flexibility, builds strength and improves posture.

When performed correctly, yoga tones and purifies the digestive, hormonal, respiratory and circulatory systems.

The practice demands full focus and attention; this brings harmony and balance to the emotions and the mind.

The body is not simply the outer container of the person but is, in fact, the very embodiment of all we are. Every stress and every joy is held in our physical form. Yoga can help us to support and heal our bodies and can also help us to understand, support and heal our emotions and our minds too.

SUSANNA’S STYLE OF YOGA.

Susanna qualified as an Iyengar teacher in 2001 and has gone on to work with Scaravelli teachers, and qualify with The British Wheel of Yoga.

In the course of Susanna's own 15 year practice, and especially when pregnant and in the post natal months, learnt the importance of respecting the body, for it is not simply the outer container of the person but is, in fact, the very embodiment of all we are. Every stress and every joy is held in our physical form. Yoga can help us not just to support and heal our bodies but to understand, support and heal our emotions and our minds too.

Susanna has had a 26 year daily meditation practice and in 2009 embraced Mindfulness Meditation (please see the mindfulness page). Susanna’s teaching incorporates the principles of mindfulness into yoga. She invites careful attention to all aspects of our being, using physical postures and the breath to explore what is present, not to try to force the body into a fixed or rigid shape but to investigate how we yield to or resist each posture.

Susanna teaches with fine attention to detail but encourages students to respect their body, nature and well-being moment to moment.
